WORKING TOGETHER
Manual therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy delivered with the hands, as opposed to a device or machine. In manual therapy, our highly qualified physiotherapists use their hands to put pressure on muscle tissue and manipulate joints in an attempt to decrease pain caused by muscle spasm, muscle tension, and joint dysfunction.
Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaging in regular physical activity. The application of sports massage, before and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury. Sports massage is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused by repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma, and it is also good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of movement.
During suspension therapy, the patient is suspended in a harness, attached with elastic bungees to a large metal frame (UGUL). The frame is designed so that it enables the bungees to be positioned, lengthened or shortened, according to the height and weight of the patient and the exercise being performed.
This includes a range of treatments using electricity to reduce pain, improve circulation, repair tissues, strengthen muscles, and promote bone growth, leading to improvements in physical functioning. Electrotherapy is typically used in conjunction with other treatments, rather than by itself. For people undergoing physiotherapy treatments, electrotherapy may alleviate pain sufficiently for an individual to participate more actively in targeted exercises.
The therapist lubricates the skin with massage oil and uses various massage techniques that are designed to improve circulation, soothe muscles and make you feel more relaxed. Techniques used during the treatment help to warm up the muscle tissue, release tension and gradually break up muscle "knots" or adhered tissues, called adhesions. Swedish massage promotes relaxation, among other health benefits.
Myofascial trigger points located in one area of your body are called a syndrome: Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS). Muscle pain matters: it’s an important problem. Aches and pains are an extremely common medical complaint, and trigger points seem to be a factor in many of them. They are a key factor in headaches including migraine and cluster headaches, as well as neck pain and lower-back pain.
Warming up before undertaking any type of exercise is very important to prevent muscle injuries like strains and tears. This is even more so important in patients with neurological conditions and children with cerebral palsy or brain injury problems, where the muscles may be already strained or tense.
The use of gentle heat to help relax the muscles, decreases muscle spasm, relieves pain, and can increase range of movement.
Ultrasonic waves – sound waves of a high frequency that is inaudible to the human ear – are produced by means of mechanical vibration in the metal treatment head of the ultrasound machine. The treatment head is then moved over the surface of the skin in the region of the injury, transmitting the energy to the tissues.
KT tape is a thin, stretchy fabric made from cotton or a cotton/nylon blend. The fabric is backed with an adhesive made from a hypoallergenic, medical-grade acrylic that is flexible, comfortable and non-irritating to most skin types. The tape is latex-free and does not contain any medications or topical ingredients.
The Thera Suit arrived in Europe in the 1970's as a modified version of the Russian cosmonaut's spacesuit. It was developed by the Russian space programme to prevent the detrimental effects of hypokinesis caused by the weightlessness conditions of space. Further research and development was conducted by the physiotherapist parents of a child with cerebral palsy, who created and patented the TheraSuit in 2001.
